At the end of 2023, the German Liquid Gas Association (Deutscher Verband Flüssiggas e.V.) commissioned me to develop the concept for a photo exhibition to mark its 75th anniversary. The DVFG people expressed the wish that the planned event in Hanover should not simply be filled with photographs from almost eight decades of the association’s history. Instead, they wanted to offer their guests something that embodied the essence of the association’s brand and — despite all the nostalgia — also whetted their appetite for the future.

In the first step, I created a content approach based on three main pillars of the association’s history: the institutional milestones, the technological innovations and the people who have been involved with the DVFG over 75 years — from truck drivers to the board of directors to the developer of so-called green liquefied gases.

Under the working title “Full of energy: 75 years of DVFG”, I developed a corresponding color concept in the second step, which also makes the content triad visually visible. I also supported the DVFG people in selecting a suitable agency for the architectural and communicative implementation and created a comprehensive briefing for this.

In the third step, I took over the creative direction of the project, developed a concept for the digital presentation of the selected media on the exhibition space and assisted the DVFG and the commissioned agency Ediundsepp with all brand strategy matters over the following months.

While Ediundsepp developed a sophisticated sculpture in the fourth step, which was inspired by the shape of a burning gas flame and had to meet the special static requirements of the “Expowal” building in Hanover, I took care of a new brand imagery:

Based on the colorful triad of the photo exhibition, I developed an approach that embodies the dynamic and forward-looking nature of the DVFG and at the same time allows an up-close and unobstructed view of the people who carry the association on their strong shoulders.
Incidentally, this image style was used for the first time in our photo box: During the ceremony on June 12, 2024, photographer Steven Lüdtke and I invited dozens of guests there to have their portraits taken by us. Here is a small selection of the results:
